The Produce Aisle

My usual grocery shopping trips involved a quick swing by the produce aisle to pick up bananas, apples, and baby carrots. Once in a while, I grabbed some onions and a bag of lettuce. Everything else in the produce aisle was considered a "special ingredient" to be used only if I had a specific recipe planned--which only happened on special occasions. The rest of my shopping trip was spent in the cereal, cracker, soda, frozen food and dairy aisles. My meals were about being fast and efficient and containing items with a long shelf-life.
That was then...this is now.
I went to the grocery store and loaded up the usual bananas, apples and carrots PLUS celery, green peppers, red peppers, zucchini, cucumbers, mushrooms, grape tomatoes and spring greens. I also visited a new aisle--the whole grain side of the baking aisle where I found buckwheat flour, cracked wheat, brown rice and all sorts of fun stuff. I visited the juice aisle instead of the soda aisle and came home with lots of cranberry blends and, of course, low sodium V8. I love V8, but Nate is going to have to put forth more of an effort for that one. I'm excited to plan some new meals this week--we'll see how it goes.
